Kathryn Klaber, chief executive officer of the Marcellus Shale Coalition, says the group’s Shale Gas Insight Conference is headed to Pittsburgh in 2014.

The gathering has been in Philadelphia for the past two years and it’ll remain there this fall, Klaber said. But come next year, it’s Pittsburgh’s time. This is, after all, where the coalition is based and where many of the companies interested in the topic are based and, of course, where the rigs are.

Apparently, the decision to begin the conference in Philadelphia was about gaining the support of the southeastern portion of the state, Klaber told me Wednesday.

It was about convincing them that they also benefit and have a stake in what’s happening hundreds of miles away.

That task is nearly complete, she said.
