In this week’s episode of All Energy Now Tejas hosted three guests whose personal experiences give them informed and unique insights into the shale gas industry and the role it plays in regional economic development. His guests were:
Rick Stouffer, Editor of Gas Business Briefing (a division of Platts),
Eric Planey, VP of International Business Attraction at Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber.
Don Hodor, Founder/Executive Director of the Southpointe Chamber of Commerce
Tejas and Rick covers a variety of topics relevant to the natural gas industry including news regarding Sunoco Logistics’ Mariner East project, the recent legal challenges facing Chesapeake Energy and signs of growth in the CNG automobile industry. The Mariner East pipeline project will deliver ethane and propane from western PA to ports in the southeastern region of the state and has major implications for the natural gas producers in western Pennsylvania. Rick discusses the implications of Chesapeake Energy’s recent subpoena and their decision to shift toward liquid fuels. Tejas and Rick conclude with a discussion of recent developments in the Condensed Natural Gas (CNG) automobile industry.
Tejas’ second guest, Eric Planey, works closely with energy and industrial companies in the Youngstown/Warren region. Tejas and Eric discuss economic trends in the Youngstown/Warren region and the surrounding areas. The recent glut in the North American natural gas market has forced companies to target the more profitable wet gas found in the Youngstown/Warren area. Eric discusses the implications of this trend and gives his opinion on what the region must do to turn recent economic success into long term growth. They conclude by discussing the upcoming Youngstown Ohio Utica & Natural Gas Conference and Expo that is being held Sept. 6-7, 2012 at the Covelli Center in Youngstown.
